Bold and industrious men and women of the Evans family line write the early pages of family history when John Dea Lee Sr. migrates to Florida in 1820. Setting initial roots in White Springs.
Evans family ancestors eventually land in Oviedo, FL in 1880s. John’s Great grandfather “B.F.” Wheeler acquires/creates, builds and manages one of the largest citrus, celery, packing house, and fertilizer plant portfolios in the state of Florida.
Wheeler and Evans families maintain large-scale citrus, ranching, celery, and real estate holdings throughout the state of Florida.
Citrus industry decline forces family to redirect. Like many historic agricultural families, the family slowly transitions from production agriculture into a real estate firm (land, retail, office, industrial, etc.). After 140+/- years in agriculture, Evans family sells last remaining grove property in 2021.
John Evans graduates from The University of Mississippi in December 2008 from the business school with a real estate finance degree. Backed by a generational pedigree of agricultural, land and real estate knowledge and experience, John joins a large land investment and brokerage firm. John establishes his role as Executive Vice President in 2015 at the age of 30 years old.
After 13 years of brokering land and completing some of the most notable deals in the state, John Evans founds MoonBeam Land Company, Inc. The name is derived as a tribute to his ancestors, which comes from mid-century citrus labels owned by the family. One label, in particular, was named MoonBeam Citrus. MoonBeam Land Company, Inc. is established to serve the great people of Florida, ensuring a prosperous Florida for generations to come.*
Though we were founded in 2022, our official launch occurred in the beginning of 2023. For 2023 alone, MoonBeam Land Company organically sourced, originated, and closed on 23,000+ acres of land, on approximately $110 million in total sales volume.
These 2023 sales numbers result in John A. Evans, Sr. breaking the HALF A BILLION mark for his career land sales totals. Total career statistics are 86,000 acres on $545+ million in total sales volume.
*MoonBeam Land Company, Inc. is a stand alone real estate brokerage, investment and advisory company, and is not affiliated with companies historically associated with the family background.
